iPhone Taking Over The SmartPhone Market?

iPhone Taking Over The SmartPhone Market?
Rico Mossesgeld over at The Smart PDA (one of Creative Weblogging's blogs) finds a report that suggest Apple's iPhone beats the competition in the SmartPhone market in North America. Mossesgeld is astute in pointing out that the data compiled by Daniel Eran Dilger, i.e. the person behind Roughly Drafted, might be a little too happy with the results in that he can barely contain his enthusiasm.

Do you think the success of the iPhone in North America will translate to a smashing success abroad, given the differences in market and regulatory environment? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

I don’t think the iPhone will do as good in Europe as it did in the US. Some reasons can be given. First of all not selling the phone in a lot of countries at the same time. People get frustrated this way and will look at other devises.
Second, Nokia. This brand isn’t that big in the US, but in Europe it’s doing great. And WM devices are also doing pretty good.
Third is the specs. The phone is expensive. What specials do you get? A nice touchscreen with a great UI. But is it worth the price? I’ll settle for a N95. Does pretty much the same, more and better. Except for the “A nice touchscreen with a great UI”.

If you look at the news on the blogs around, the sales are not that great. But then again, other sources claim Apple will announce 5mln iphones sold somewhere next month.

I have to agree with your assessment.

I dont think money matters when it comes to purchasing a phone. In Norway we gladly pay $8-900.00 if it has the right toys. Im talking about a Nokia or SonyEricsson. People buy new phones every year. I think the Iphone will do good in europe

Yeah, but I’m sure you’re also not buying a phone with a 2 year ball and chain attached to it (a.k.a. a contract) either.

yes it is true it also capture the huge market of other devices.

    Dameon,

We have different types of ball and chains, but not more than 1 year. If you dont want it you have to pay alot. You can get a phone for $0.15 but the chain is $30 a month + what you use.

  7. Dameon D. Welch-Abernathy Says:

Obviously better than here. I wish they’d do more in the States to promote buying phones outright versus the two year ball and chain route.

Yes it is true that iphone is capturing the smartphone market day by day, but lets see how much iphone be successful in capturing the other devices market.
