GSMA Forms Alliance to Curb Child Pornography on Mobile Web

mobile internet

Let's hope this is not a mere lip service from profit-driven mobile operators. The GSM Association has created a Mobile Alliance against Child Sexual abuse Content to prevent anyone from bombarding our mobile phones with malicious child sexual abuse contents.

According to its press release, members of the Alliance will, among other measures, implement technical mechanisms to prevent access to Web sites identified by an appropriate agency as hosting child sexual abuse content.

Included in the alliance are Hutchison 3G Europe, mobilkom austria, Orange FT Group, Telecom Italia, Telefonica/02, Telenor Group, TeliaSonera, T-Mobile Group, Vodafone Group and dotMobi.

Unfortunately, initiatives like this alliance are usually good on paper but its implementation futile. Then again, pray that I'm wrong about this one.
