ZZZPhone.com Wants to be the Dell of Mobile Phones

mobile technology

A new company named ZZZPhone wants apply to mobile phones the build-to-order business model successfully implemented by giant PC maker Dell and later on adopted by other leading retailers such as Nike iD.

With this level of customization, the company claims it has developed a $149-mobile phone loaded with more features compared to the $739 Nokia N95 handset model! It can even compete with Apple iPhone without paying as much.

All these enhancements are possible to get at very low prices because this American company claims to have assembly plants in China, near the factories of leading handset manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung and Motorola.

All phones can be customized at the website http://www.zzzphone.com. Starting from a base model, users have the power to combine different features such as touchscreen, dual SIM card slots, GPS navigation, 7 MP camera at the back of the phone, front-facing camera, 4 GB memory and even a flashlight!

All mobile phones are unlocked and tri-band so it can be used anywhere except in Europe. Unfortunately, the model unit displayed in the Website appears to be low quality replica of some smartphones, a big disappointment considering consumers go for the look and feel of mobile phones.

The tri-band U.S. thing is a bummer. Why not do quadband? Why not HSDPA?

Also, I’m just not a fan of Windows Mobile. No thanks, I’ll pass.

Is this real, or I just loose a few bucks and a little time for starting zzz community site? :-)

    Hello Blogosphere,
I am Customizeaphone.com, a registered affiliate with zzzPhone, and in constant contact with the company. I can answer all your questions, and sell you the phones with a guarantee of service, and tech support.
We are working on CDMA, and doing our best to get it compatible with all the markets.

The phone is not running Windows Mobile as said originally, rather is running a proprietary linux OS. BIG NEWS NOT YET RELEASED! We are working to release all the phones with Android (http://www.openhandsetalliance.com/android_overview.html) as the primary OS and will be available in approx 45 days. We have just hired 20 additional engineers and programmers to make that a reality, and also to develop Android apps specifically for the phone.
To continue answering the questions from above, the site is still under development, and is now cross compatible.
To answer some of the questions others have asked:
The reason the owner has those domain names registered is because he is a massive business man, and this is only one of his many business’s.
There is now an option to remove the cameras on the phone bringing the lowest possible configuration to $138.
There is also an option to upgrade the battery from 1800 to 2200mAh. This brings the life of the battery to be longer then the Nokia N95.
As far as changing the body is concerned, do not despair, we have future models in development, and a full touch screen option is among them. Feel free to contact me at info@customizeaphone.com for more information, and visit my website at http://www.customizeaphone.com for more details.
