Ad subsidized mobile Internet access could work very well from my perspective. I do not understand why operators do not provide free access to their web&walk or vodafone live! portals in return for controlling the ads on these sites.

If you talked to the operators, you would understand that they do not understand. When you have 65 million customers with 50% paying $15 US/mo to access the Internet, you aren't thinking clearly enough to realize that if you gave the service away your online 'audience' would go up. And, if you can't recover $15/mo and more from me then maybe you should be in another business. Hmmmm! Advertising on mobile is the future and will explode soon. Its already been accepted by large numbers in Asia atleast in the age brackets of 18-34. Mobile coupons are being slowly accepted by even big giants of USA. Time is not far when most if not all companies will be utilizing this medium of direct to consumer advertising.
