Emphasizing security among different mobile features and functions, Chinese mobile handset manufacturer Qiao Xing Mobile Communication, through its subsidiary CECT, has launched T100 equipped with fingerprint identification technology.
The company is said to be preparing for the future where security will be the utmost concern of most mobile phone users.
"We believe there is tremendous market potential for handsets with technological features that are designed to safeguard data on both the device and over the network. Consumers have started to regularly use mobile phones for email and instant messaging, but as wireless applications become more sophisticated and telecom networks continue to increase their data connection speeds, we think people are going to start using their handsets to conduct such wireless transactions as electronic banking, securities trading and internet shopping. The fingerprint recognition scanner on our new T100 model will specifically ensure that such confidential data that is stored on handsets remains secure," said CECT Chairman Wu Zhi Yang.
Embedding biometric security is not new in the industry. Mobile devices like LG-LP3550, Pantech GI100, and Hitachi W51H already introduced the same technology years ago. To date, highlighting fingerprint technology as the main feature is still not a compelling motivation to buy. For now, it's good as an add-on element.
Nevertheless, I agree with Chairman Yang regarding the increasing relevance of mobile security given the recent technological advances in the mobile industry.

I can answer definitely: “No”! My friend works at tech service. Once pantech was brought. Owner of the phone had blocked it with fingerprint. Phone didn’t recognize owner. So they had to remake it. And I don’t think fingerprint technology is demanded
