Web-Alerts.com gives you the power to monitor your favorite blogs or sites through SMS or text messaging. The best part, as always, is it is free of charge. Just visit the site Web-Alerts.com, paste the RSS feed of your favorite site, type your mobile phone number, and Web-Alerts will automatically monitor and update you when something new appears.

You can even choose a keyword and be alerted only when new items contain your keyword. The text message also contains a link to the mobile optimized version of the full story. Currently, you need to open your mobile Web to know the latest buzz. Now, you can have a preview and decide if you really need to visit the site - saves you time and dollars.

Ideal for monitoring job openings, developing news story, staying current on a competitor or industry, getting the latest on a celebrity or event or keeping tabs on your favorite sports team.

This service, however, is currently available US and Canada only. While the service is free, take time to check your provider if they charge you for receiving SMS.
