Verizon Wireless Makes Mobile Banking Easier

Verizon Wireless has redesigned its Mobile Web 2.0 service to enable easier access to mobile Bank of America, the leader in online banking. It simply means:

Customers are able to check account balances, view transactions, pay bills, and transfer money between accounts and to other Bank of America customers. Customers can locate Bank of America ATMs and Banking Centers, view location hours and get directions from their Verizon Wireless phones.

Improving accessibility is a good step towards acceptance. Still, Verizon should pursue stronger security measures to assure customers. Although this is already a responsibility of Bank of America, it would really add more value if there is another protection layer.

Even though there is a study about mobile banking not a consumer demand, these recent developments might help trigger growth of this channel the way Internet spurred online banking in the earlier days.

    It’s nice you can do banking on you tiny cell phone screen. The only reason that I haven’t tried it yet is that I still don’t feel secured when the transactions go through a wireless network.

    This is not a new thing on the market. We got this in Norway 2 years ago.
