Verizon Rescues Deceased Wife's Voicemail Greeting

Filed in archive Mobile Society by Dameon Welch-Abemathy on April 10, 2008

Every once in a while, I run across a human-interest story that's both touching and sad. It's also not often we hear of a mobile network operatorlinks doing the right thing by someone, either.

The report from FOXNews is that an 80-year old widower was calling his wife's voicemail on Verizon Wireless daily-just to hear her say her name. However, in a recent upgrade of the Verizon Wireless voicemail system, her greeting was erased!

Fortunately, the fine folks at Verizon Wireless found an old archived recording of his deceased wife saying her name and restored it to the voicemail system. Now the widower can continue to hear her wife's voicemail greeting-at least until the next Voicemail upgrade.
