A number of services also provide a similar service: Jott and Spinvox come to mind. However, Spinvox is a pay service and Jott is "free in beta." However, this is focused only on twitter, and it's bog simple to use.
Local country numbers are available in 10 different countries, including the US, UK, and Ireland. Local numbers in 40 countries are expected within the next 6 weeks.

I wanted to take the opportunity to correct an in accuracy in the above blog post. SpinVox Blog and SpinVox Social Network services are free to use. Launched in October 2007 they enable simple and easy posting to both Twitter and Jaiku in English, French, German and Spanish as well as Facebook on four continents. These services complement the existing free SpinVox Blog service for blogging sites such as Livejournal, Windows Live Spaces, Moblog.co.uk, Typepad, Vox and Blogger and which can also be used with Movable Type and WordPress blog tools.

You're right, I lumped the "Free" and the "pay" parts of Spinvox together. My apologies and I will correct the article appropriately.
