
T-Mobile have secured the European mobile broadcast rights to matches during the upcoming FIFA 2006 World Cup. The deal, which gives T-Mobile non-exclusive rights to near-live and delayed clips of key match footage. The agreement also includes clips from the 2002 World Cup.
MobileTV is a key issue for T-Mobile, offering best entertainment and information round the clock. T-Mobile customers will be able to watch twenty World Cup games live on UMTS cell phones. As part of its cooperation with Premiere, T-Mobile can also offer its customers a match summary of every FIFA World Cup game and experts' opinions on MobileTV, making sure that they are always able to follow the FIFA World Cup on their cell phones.
T-Mobile customers in Germany will also be able to watch live streams of around 20 selected matches during the tournament.
