T-Mobile, known for their mobile phone, has announced their latest innovation- the WebConnect USB Laptop Stick that allows USB-equipped devices to access 3G wireless Internet access.
The plug-in USB device will act as a wireless antenna to connect any laptop, desktop, or PDA to T-Mobile's 3G network (Wi-Fi) and will cost $50 with a two-year contract, or $100 if the buyer signs up for one year. In addition to the cost of the hardware, service is set to cost $60 per month for up to 5GB of traffic.
T-Mobile, who is playing catch-up to Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint when it comes to building out a nationwide third-generation, or "3G" data network, plans to double its high-speed wireless network coverage to reach a potential 200 million wireless users by the end of 2009.
