Sprint Looking at Placeshifted Video
According Reuters via moco.news, Sprint is in talks with Sling Media, Sony and Orb Networks to bring some kind of placeshifting play to Sprint customers. Such an effort would allow Sprint customers to get their home TV feeds via their mobile devices, a logical step beyond the current feeble video downloading plans most US carriers are investigating.

In the interview Reuterslinks cites, Paul Reddick, a business development executive at Sprint, even goes as far as to say Sprint would consider actually producing video themselves. A far cry from basic voice services, no? Could the big mobile operators worldwide become the next big entrants into media production themselves? Are they afraid of Apple? Sprint et al are definitely looking over their shoulders at the CE players at this point.
