Smuggling Cellphones

Smuggling Cellphones

Well, my little development project has extended itself slightly, leaving me with even less free time… Still, when something like this story from Hong Kong comes along, it's good for a chuckle.

A group of smugglers have reportedly attempted to use a sewer pipe to smuggle mobile phones between Hong Kong and China.

The official news agency, China Daily reported that the Shenzhen Customs anti-smuggling force took action last month, capturing a gang leader, a truck driver, and five men working in the tunnel.

About 900 mobile phones and 120,000 electronic chips, worth roughly US$200,000 were seized in the raid.

The smugglers allegedly rented an apartment only a few meters from the border.
