While the Samsung Reclaim has been in the works for some time, it looks like Sprint will be the U.S. carrier of this, the world's first bio-friendly smartphone.
The Reclaim can proudly boast of the fact that it's made from 80 percent recyclable materials and is free of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), phthalates, and nearly free of brominated flame-retardants (BFR) (the three materials commonly targeted on green electronics guidelines).
The outer packaging is made from 70 percent recycled materials and even the ink on the box will be soy-based.
The Reclaim features a slide-out QWERTY thumb-board, a 2.0-megapixel camera and access to social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube out of box.
The Samsung Reclaim will be released on August 16 for $50 with a two-year contract.
