VoIP

Since this is a web-based application, there is no need to "jailbreak" or otherwise modify your iPhone in any way the Apple Gods might find warranty-voiding. One leg of the call occurs over the normal wireless network, so your wireless carrier will be happy.
You have to sign up for the service from your iPhone. Other manufacturers devices will be supported in the near future.

Voice over Internet Protocol ( VOIP ) is a wonderful technology, the only trouble is that the operators can only see diminished returns the more that this, essentially free, service is taken up....

Based on some discussions I've had with other people that dave dabbled in this space, the operators are totally happy to see more minutes on their network. While they will make less money on some of the calls (i.e. the ones that bypass the international rates), they will still get the minutes on the "toll bypass" calls as well as new calls that would not have been made over their network prior to this product. It's a net-positive.
