RIM Returning to the Smartphone Segment

With all the talk of iPhones and Palm's Pre, RIM has been holding steady with their latest smartphone entry. It has since been confirmed that T-Mobile will launch the BlackBerry Curve 8520, RIM's newest smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad and dedicated media keys (on August 5).

The Curve 8520 is the first BlackBerry smartphone to offer dedicated media keys to control music and videos.

It also features an innovative touch-sensitive optical trackpad, which makes scrolling and selecting an effortless affair.

Users can access email, messaging and social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace out of the box.

It will also feature music, games and other mobile apps for users looking for entertainment from their handset.

Customers will also have the option of using Wi-Fi for fast Web browsing and T-Mobile's unlimited hotspot calling.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available on August 5 at T-Mobile and Wal-Mart stores.
