In the competitive smartphone industry, near constant innovation is a must to keep the edge. To that end Research in Motion (RIM) has unveiled the Bold 9650 (shown in photo) and Pearl 3G; two new devices aimed at defending the firm's crumbling market share against threats like the Apple iPhone.
Each of the two new handsets will feature full QWERTY keyboards, optical trackpads, 3.2-megapixel cameras, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and high-speed Internet. The Bold runs on both CDMA and GSM 3G networks in North America and abroad, while the Pearl 3G is the first RIM device with 802.11n compatibility.
RIM says both smartphones will be able to handle voice and data simultaneously, so users can browse the web and take a call and download software from BlackBerry's app store.
The units are set for Sprint & Verizon service domestically beginning next month. Pricing has yet to be finalized.
