Nokia's New User Interface an iPhone Look-alike

As expected, everybody wants to be iPhone lately. Take for instance this patent filed by Nokia in June 2007 for its own version of multi-touch user interface. Lacking in creativity, it's named Nokia S60 Touch.

This UI is not exactly an iphone clonelinks. In some ways, it hopes to take multi-touch technology to the next level for it can track hand movements and three-dimensional gestures without actually touching the screen.

Will it work? So far, all of these details are just in paper and no concrete evidence or leaked videos are available yet. Nokia wants to keep it a secret until maybe they can find a way to make it work.

Of course, the strategy is to integrate this new UI to new Nokia handsets to eliminate the unique selling point of iPhone. No wonder, Microsoft is doing the same thing with its Windows Mobile 7 version.

You can get full technical details from Unwired View.
