Motorola's Latest Social Friendly Smartphone May Not Come to the U.S.
Filed in archive Mobile Technologies on June 2, 2010

Until now, flipping out has been a less than desirable trait but Motorola may change all that. The company has unveiled the Flipout, a pivoting Android-based smartphone with the latest MotoBlur user interface that will focus on social networking.
The Flipout will feature both a touch screen display and swivel five-row thumb-board. It will run Google's Android software for seven home screens that can be customized with shortcuts to popular applications such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The company's newest MotoBlur software syncs emails, messages and updates from friends on social networking sites all with continuous backup. Users can also filter out messages they don't want, making it easier to follow favorites.
The Flipout will come with a new Battery Manager program that prolongs the phone's battery power and a Data Manager app to handle data usage. Additional features include a 3.0-megapixel camera with Kodak perfect touch technology for brighter pictures, MP3 player and FM radio, high-speed HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS tracking and remote data wipe.
Motorola said the Flipout will be available in the second quarter. And while it's suspected, they have yet to confirm a Stateside release at present.
