Moto Leads Global Bluetooth Headsets

A new study by Strategy Analytics puts Motorola at the top of the Bluetooth headset market globally. According to coverage of the study in eWeek, Moto holds about 28% of the global market, which Strategy Analytics put at 33 million units sold, or about $1 billion in wholesale value, for 2005. Jabra was second, with about 16% share of the global market, and plantronics just behind at 12%.

Strategy Analytics said past growth drivers were a combination of falling prices and laws against talking on mobile phones while driving. In the future, however, they say it may be driven more by media applications and stereo headsets.
