Moto Goes (RED) to fight AIDS in Africa

Motorola has joined the unique push against AIDS in Africa devised by U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver known as (RED), an effort to create special products that feature the color used in the ribbons to remind people of the fight against the disease as a way of creating both funding for anti-AIDS efforts and to raise awareness of the disease.

For its part, Moto has created a stunning red version of the SLVR slim handset for the UK market, and has been joined by BT Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, Fresh, O2, Orange, Tesco Mobile, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone in its cause. Moto will donate 10% from the sales of the (RED) handset, and the co-operating operators will kick in 5% of the revenue from customers using the device.
