Moment of Truth for Google Phone

If the report of Reuters last Friday is true, the mystery that is Google Phone will unravel today. The search engine giant will disclose its mobile strategy including its phone operating system and its alliance partners.

According to an anonymous source, the partners are Sprint Nextel Corp, Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile USA, Motorola Inc and Samsung Electronics. Moreover, the OS is based on the open-source Linux code.

It seems Google is virtually unstoppable at this time. Last week, Google stock hits more than $700 or 723% increase since the initial public offering in 2004. The outcome today might further propel shares.

In the words of Andrew Orlowskie of The Register, the Google Phone is the second punch in the guts of other mobile players this year. The first was the launch of Apple's iPhone.
