Mobile Virus Scares Pakistan

In a report by Patrick Barnard of TMCnet, mobile users in Pakistan panicked when a prankster sent a disturbing message claiming that 20 people already died due to some sort of mobile virus.
The rumor - kind of based on the concept of the movie "The Ring," where people die a week after watching a video - was so effective that some mosques in the country's biggest city, Karachi, repeated the message to their followers.
Cellular operators are reportedly trying to calm down subscribers by telling them that the rumors "are completely baseless" and "do not make any sense in technological terms."While the whole universe is probably laughing right now, I see opportunity - the increasing power of mobile devices to awaken our senses and stimulate responses. The actual event might be trivial but if you look deeper you will see mobile marketing at work. And for mobile companies - profit!
Then again, I found myself thinking of a new big mobile prank/scare tactic. How about this: Switch to iPhone or you will die within 7 days." Hope this will work!
