David Neeleman, JetBlue founder and chief executive, shares the misgivings of many US airline executives about the on-board use of mobile phones for voice calls, but said text communications could prove attractive.
JetBlue was the first US carrier to offer live television on its aircraft, and bought additional radio spectrum in a federal auction this year which could be applied to launch the US first in-flight texting service.Since I'm blogging about a company known for its marketing prowess and frustrated with marketing blunders rampant in the mobile industry, I like to share a best practice tactic used by JetBlue to determine customer needs and wants:

JetBlue Airways Corporation, headquartered in Forest Hills, New York, surveys a minimum of six customers from each of its flights. One finding was that customers liked having the pilot address them over the public address system before the flight took off or if there was a delay, and did so while standing in the aisle. JetBlue responded by providing training to new pilots on how to make announcements, and issuing printed guidelines on the procedure.Via FierceWireless
