Well, fanbois and fangirlz? Could today be the day that the iPhone (or iChat Mobile or whatever it will be called) becomes reality? With the kick-off of Apple's World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), many analysts expect, and many phreaks, leaks and pseudo-leaks suggest, it will happen today. Like many others, I never expect anything until hours after the WWDC or macworld has closed down and all the news has trickled out.
It woudl be an excellent time to make the announcement. With operators and mobile device makers pounding away at music and media functions, Apple needs to and can change the game again by making wireless voice the tail of the multifunctional device dog, whereas operators and the device makers that feed them only concentrate on growing your monthly bill.
A few hours from now we should know whether smelling salts will be needed at the WWDC, or if it has just been another (fat) pipedream.
