According to livebloggers on the scene, Steve Jobs has just announced the advent of the iPhone after all, at Macworld this morning in San Francisco. More details as they come in, but it looks like a step-change in mobile phone design, running on Apple's OS X, with a gesture controlled interface, ability to play iTunes, video, has WiFi, the whole shebang.
It features various kinds of sensors to make the device as intelligent as needed, shutting off its touchscreen when the user puts it to his or her ear, an accelerometer to know when it is switching portrait to landscape mode, light sensors to adjust brightness etc.
It also sports a 2 megapixel camera, full integration with Mac applications.
More news and analysis later.
