It was only a matter of time⦠Let's face it, as a whole, the world is quick to adopt a trend, run with it, and then leave it for dead. First it was Myspace then Facebook. Now the world is Twitter-obsessed and to that end mobile phone maker INQ Mobile plans to launch a Twitter phone in time for the holiday sales season.
Hoping to capitalize on soaring interest in micro-blogging, this new handset would be the first of its kind: A mass-market cellular phone with an integrated internet-based Twitter client, which would use a wireless internet connection to send 140-character long "Tweets" (Twitter's text messaging service).
"This can really help open up and drive Twitter use on mobile when usage becomes part of your data package like on the PC," said Frank Meehan, INQ's chief executive.
INQ Mobile has sold over 700,000 handsets since the launch of its Skype phone in 2007.
