UBC Media Group has announced the trial of a new service that runs alongside digital radio that allows customer to buy the song they're listening to via their mobile phone. The service will deliver the selected song as a digital download to the customer's handset, and send another to the user's home account for use on a PC or other digital audio player.

The service, which will initially be tested in Birmingham, has the backing of the Chrysalis radio group (Heart, Galaxy), and will offer songs for immediate sale at around £1.25 each, although initially potential users will have to pre-purchase vouchers, although the company plans to add pay-by-mobile and direct bank transfer support.
