The good news about a single company, in this case Google, owning a whole line of related aps is that they can address issues directly.
The company has released a new version of Gmail for their Android-powered smartphones (that also works on Apple's iPhone software) that is not only faster but is designed not to crash even if a user loses connection with a wireless network.
Along that line, users can open recently read messages and compose emails even when the phone is offline.
The application also more closely resembles Gmail desktop version and includes search, threaded conversations and a new "floaty bar" for more convenient functionality.
The new Gmail is compatible with any browser that conforms to the new HTML5 and Gears programming standard.
