Cellular News has pointed us in the direction of Midas Touch International, a UK-based company that offers a custom gold-plating service for Nokia 8800 handsets, as well as offering the service for a selected range of other phones. The gold plating comes in three different colours, 24k classic gold, Rose gold and Modern gold.

London-based entrepreneur Laban Roomes who runs Midas Touch International, a specialist gold-plating organisation, has been inundated with requests for his new 'ring-bling' Nokia 8800 phones - which sell complete for around £800.

"It's been like a gold rush" said Roomes. "We started gold-plating the latest Nokia 8800 in November and business has been booming ever since. It seems the whole world wants one. So now we're looking to set up a world-class distribution channel both in the UK and in Europe"

The company works with Nokia technicians, and provides certificates of authenticity, as well as providing a warranty on the gold plating itself.

I'm not sure my 6630 would look any good gold plated though...

I must leave a warning for readers and customers considering hirering Midas Touch for the Nokia 8800 in 24k Gold: Anyone who buys the item from Midas is in for a LOT of serious trouble! I have a business in Sweden selling "bling items" and we have had nothing but trouble from Midas´items! The founder is dishonest and his "craftmanship" does not hold what it promises. ALL phones supplied by him has been returned with flawed gold. Midas shows no interest in fixing them at all.
I changed to Gold 2 U about 8 months ago and haven´t had a single phone returned since! I strongly recommend this company if you fancy a REAL 8800 in 24k gold that actually stays that way!

Hi Michael, unfortunately you and I have never done business, we have never sold any phones to Dubia. So how you come to the conclusion that you have used us is beyond me. Any returns we had with peeling in the early days have always been logged. Sadly you are not one of them. Midas Touch did not start Gold 2U in gold plating. Caswell Europe did. It seems you are unsure of your facts, whoever you are? I do not have a clue who the above comment is from in Sweden. So I am not sure whom the jealousy is with? And sir, I am no coward!
