Free App Turns Cell Phones Into Social Networks

Xumii, the free mobile social address book, has been named one of the 42 nominees for the 2009 MobileMonday Mobile Peer Awards. Industry visionaries, developers and influencers selected Xumii based on the company's industry innovation. The winners will be announced at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 16.

Xumii creates a mobile social address book that connects all a user's contacts - from social networks, instant messenger services and mobile devices. From their mobile phones, Xumii users can chat, update their status messages and share media with all their contacts. What makes Xumii unique is that it allows people to share mobile media and participate in threaded conversations across networks and platforms (Facebook, MySpace, imeem, GoogleTalk, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Flickr and YouTube) through a single user interface.
