Flixster, the world’s biggest online movie community, looks like it's going to be bigger still by last week's announcement to release its first Blackberry application and overhaul its successful Android app.
The announcement represents the company's simultaneous addition of 8 million mobile users.
The beta version of Flixster for the Blackberry is already among the smartphone’s top 40 free apps.
As it stands Flixster’s mobile “Movies” app remains one of the top 5 entertainment apps for the iPhone at present, and is installed on a whopping 1 in 5 iPhones in the U.S.
In addition to the 20 million monthly unique visitors Flixster.com attracts on its site, the “Movies” application can boast adding an additional 8 million to the service's reach.
With plans of reaching all of the major smartphone platforms (iPhone, Android, Blackberry and the Palm Pre) Flixter hopes to continue its meteoric rise as the first choice for mobile users looking to make use of the multimedia capabilities of their handsets.
