First GSM Watchfone To Enter the Market

First GSM Watchfone To Enter the Market

As a testament to mobile industry's creative genius, the FCC has approved the world's first GSM Watchfone. Also recognized as the smallest mobile phone, Watchfone was developed by SMS Technology Australia and exclusively distributed in US by GoIP Global, Inc. First batch is expected this July 2007.

The water-resistant M500 works on GSM Quadband frequencies which are 850Mhz, 900Mhz, 1800Mhz and 1900Mhz. This allows any individual who has a GSM SIM card to use the M500 in any country around the world. The M500 has a built-in MP3 and MP4 player, Voice Bluetooth, Data Bluetooth, Flash Memory, 128MB standard memory, plus supports T-Flash card and U Disk functionality for all JM2E applications. TFT touchscreen is the biggest advantage of this unique device.

By inserting a Cingular or T-Mobile, (or from any other GSM worldwide carrier) SIM card, the watch operates as your cell phone connected by Bluetooth to your head-set.

Though little is known about this newly approved mobile device, I'm a bit worried about its capability to send and receive SMS messages. Given the increasing importance of SMS in US, inability to provide this feature is major drawback.

And will this be part of the next James Bond movie? Who knows…
