DS Lite Finally Out of the Bag

After weeks of rumors flying, Nintendo has officially unveiled what looks like a pencil drawing of the newly redesigned DS Lite. As one might imagine, it's smaller, lighter, etc. A number of sites give March as a rollout timeframe.

What is alluring about this announcement has been the buzz around Nintendo's leverage of the DS's Wi-Fi capabilities to add full-blown VoIP, making it, well, a mobile communication device that excels at gaming while allowing users to communicate by voice. One of my first thoughts as my son opened his DS on Christmas Day was "I wonder if there is a Skype port for this thing." Well, maybe soon.
