According to Pacific Epoch, Wan Mingjian, chairman of handset Maker Guohong Communications has challenged third-party stats on market share in China, and predicts that one or two domestic handset companies will push past Motorola into second place in the Chinese market by the end of 2006.

Wan says that Ministry of Information Industry (MII) stats are more accurate than third-party data, which seems an interesting compliment to pay to MII considering the government stat bureau doesn't have a high opinion of Chinese handset vendors.
