Why is this logo so big, you ask? Because it's owner is. According to the Manchester Evening News, China Mobile, only 6 years old, moved ahead of Vodafone as the world's largest mobile operator in terms of value. The swap came as a result of the two companies' shares moving different directions in the market based on recent financial results. China Mobile now has a market value of roughly $132 billion, ahead of Vodafone's $109 billion.
The interesting issue of course is that Vodafone is a global busines, where China Mobile is operating in a single country with a very immature domestic market. What do these numbers tel you about the market's expectations for China as a source of growth vs. the developed world?

But there is some miserable fact – China is the biggest country in the world by population. Even if it has just 3 operators each can handle more than 100 mln people

Interesting development indeed. Besides the perceived growth potential of the Chinese telecom market, there are clearly other factors at work here. I believe the near monopoly position China Mobile enjoys in the Chinese market is the more important contributor to the market valuation. http://nowires.wordpress.com/2006/08/
