Buying Tickets Via Mobile
Filed in archive Mobile Commerce by Scott on January 21, 2006

Mobile Box Office has developed an application to allow mobile owners to purchase and carry movie tickets on their handsets. Using WAP, buyers purchase tickets with a secure credit card transaction, then recieve an image of a ticket with a barcode, which is scanned on theatre entry.

This is a clever work-around to actually being able to carry items of value such as tickets or bank cards within a handset. While some of these ideas are only on the drawing board at the moment, other options include uses of RFID and other technologies to enable near-field communications-, or NFC-, based transactions driven straight from the handset.
