Boom in Home Wireless Devices

Boom in Home Wireless Devices

Research firm Strategy Analytics has released a new forecast predicting that consumers worldwide will purchase 950 million wireless devices for the home over the next five years. This includes devices such as wireless game consoles, MP3 players and next generation TVs, according to the company.

The study is also bullish on next generation wireless technologies for the home environment, saying MIMO and 802.11n devices will hit penetration of 134 million units the end of the decade.

This forecast is ambitious as many of the devices they considered are not yet on the market or are not mass-market, from the above mentioned wireless technologies to actual broadband wireless gaming systems, media players and IPTV.
