3G Euro Treo in the Pipeline

3G Euro Treo in the Pipeline

Palm looks to finally be breaking through Europe's defenses with a deal to launch a new European Treo on Vodafone's network, bundling Microsoft's Windows Mobile OS.

The big difference, according to the Register's reading of things, is that the device may lose its stubby American external antenna, which smacks of 1998. Vodafone plan to release the Euro Treo in UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Netherlands before the year is out.

All three companies are excited about eating into the personal lives of users by offering Push mail:

"Vodafone's business customers expect us to help them increase productivity and make the most of their business and personal time," said Nick Jeffery, global director of Business Marketing, Vodafone. "The new Treo smartphone will be a market-leading device, which combined with our high-speed 3G/UMTS network and real-time push email, will make this an invaluable business tool."
