In my last post, I brought up the possibility of Wal-Mart selling a $99 4GB iPhone. While that rumor has yet to be confirmed, AT&T has begun offering refurbished iPhone 3Gs for $149 (for a black 8GB) and $249 for a black or white 16GB model.
Refurbished phones are previously owned devices that have been unused or lightly used and returned during the 30-day trial period. Each refurbished phone is independently quality tested and loaded with the latest software to meet current factory standards. Refurbished iPhone 3G devices carry a warranty of 90 days or more.

I think refurbished phones are a good alternative to the expansive new stuff.

Refurbished Apple products are terrible. I have had my iPhone replaced multiple times for various issues, and every replacement was a refurb. Most of them had problems in the first few days.
For Christ’s sake, spend the extra $50 to get the new one. I promise, you’ll save the money later in not paying for gas and time off work to go to the Apple Store and deal with their bullshit to get your phone replaced.
